Welcome

The Facebook Developer wiki is a comprehensive resource for documentation relating to developing on Facebook Platform. The wiki is maintained by Facebook, with help from developers like you.

There are other ways you can contribute to help make Facebook Platform even better:

Make the Wiki Better

There is already a lot of great information and documentation here, but it can always be improved.

Developers are always looking for information that is:

  • Accurate
  • Up to date
  • Detailed
  • Consistent
  • Brief

Anything you can do to help achieve this in each document will be appreciated by your fellow developers.

Ways You Can Help

We recently changed the ability to edit the wiki. Over time, we've found that more than 90% of contributions to the wiki were evenly split between comments/questions from developers and spam/vandalism from non-developers. Locking down the main namespace means comments and questions can appear on the Talk pages and vandalism will stop appearing in the articles themselves.

We do value your input, so please stay involved.

Report Erroneous or Unclear Content

See something that appears out of date or thin on explanation or example? Please help by contributing additional accurate knowledge to the article's Talk page.

Also, report content that isn't useful. What is not useful?

  • Advertising
  • Spam
  • Vandalism
  • Out-of-date or inaccurate content

Create New Content

If you see an area or topic where content is missing, feel free to write new content. Use the User namespace to create a new page. So, to create a page called Foo, use User:Foo. We've moved certain pages where developers regularly contribute (community-supported client libraries, Connect live sites) to the User namespace, so you can continue contributing there.

If you do create new content, try to follow the style used on other articles in this wiki.

Note that we use specific templates for many of the pages, most notably FBAPI_Documentation for the API articles, FBML_Documentation for articles on FBML tags and FQL_Documentation for articles on FQL.

Note: Creating content -- even on User pages -- that is not useful can result in Facebook blocking your account, preventing you from contributing to the wiki. So let's keep it positive and on topic, for the benefit of everyone here.

Thanks!

Your work on Platform and this wiki contributes to the knowledge of the entire developer community. Thanks for contributing!
