You can't use fb:wide / fb:narrow to have conditional stylings. Specifically, dragging a box from side to side seems to create issues.

~~This statement doesn't ring true~~ and probably should be moved to discussion page. (with css? maybe but you can conditionally style just may not be able to use different stylesheets for wide and narrow)
The statement is correct. Having a style referenced in narrow and wide with different values will not have an effect on the targeted elements when the user drags a profile box between sides. To have an effect on an element the style must be inline as part of it. This obviously will not work with friend selects etc which are created by facebook on page load and you cannot include inline styles on them.
