We're maintaining a list of operating systems and compilers that work with our current installation process. These are the setups that have worked for other developers. Please share what setups have worked for you. We'll use your feedback to make the overall installation process easier.

Recommended configurations include:

  • CentOS (kernel 2.6.18), with GCC 4.1.2
  • Gentoo Linux (kernel 2.6.23), with GCC 4.1.2
  • Gentoo Linux (kernel 2.6.18), with GCC 4.1.1
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 (kernel 2.4.21), with GCC 3.2.3 (With a few days of effort -- Sean Blakey 523605952 16:44, 13 June 2008 (PDT))
  • Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron (kernel 2.6.22-14_, with GCC 4.1.3 (8 hours effort + waiting for compile) -- Richard D. Chennault 566350662
  • Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy (kernel 2.6.24-16-server, with GCC 4.2.3 (3 days of effort + 1 day compiling time) -- D.Avsharyan 592362392)
  • Fedora Core release 6 (Zod) gcc 4.1.2 2.6.18-1.2849
